Did you ever want to bring the magic of augmented reality to your class? With today's technology, creating mystery and engagement in your classroom is easier than ever. Augmented reality is most commonly used with a mobile internet-connected device. The user must download the mobile augmented reality app and point the camera at the trigger image or object, and the virtual content appears on the screen. Augmented reality maps virtual content onto a real-world object. Some simple augmented reality that you may already know about include:

Elementary/Middle Level Augmented reality coloring pages applications

Both of these applications provide users with FREE printable coloring pages that, when triggered using the app, will make the content come to life. All the user needs to do is (1) print the page, (2) color the page, and (3) scan the page using the augmented reality app to make the content come to life.

Implementation ideas:

  • Review cell structures of animals and plants.

  • Get creative and create your class flag, or each small group can create a flag to represent their group.

  • Celebrate the holidays with augmented coloring pages or send these coloring pages as cards to loved ones.

  • Review weather concepts and get a character dressed for the day.

  • Have each student write a rule of digital citizenship on a coloring page and create an interactive bulletin board showing everyone's rules. Watch it come to life by viewing the content through the app.
