As the year comes to a close, it’s the perfect time to pause and reflect. In this special holiday episode of the EduMagic Podcast, we share seven powerful reflection questions, one for each chapter of EduMagic, to help you recharge and reignite your passion for teaching.

I’m your host, Samantha Fecich, and I’m so glad you’re here. As we wrap up this year, I want to share something special with you, a holiday reflection guide inspired by my book, EduMagic: A Guide for Preservice Teachers. Reflection is one of the most powerful tools we have as educators. It helps us pause, celebrate wins, and set intentions for the future. So today, I’m walking you through seven reflection questions, one for each chapter of EduMagic, to help you recharge and reignite your passion for teaching. Grab a cozy drink, a journal, and let’s dive in!
Before we jump into the questions, let’s talk about why reflection is so important. When we take time to reflect, we’re not just looking back, we’re learning forward. Reflection helps us grow, stay grounded in our “why,” and make intentional choices for the year ahead. So, as you listen, I encourage you to pause after each question and jot down your thoughts. Or, download the free reflection guide linked in the show notes.
The Seven Reflection Questions
Chapter 1 – Your Why
Question: What inspired you to pursue a career in education, and how does that “why” influence your daily actions as a future teacher?
Chapter 2 – Professional Learning Network (PLN)
Question: How can building a strong PLN help you grow as an educator, and what is one step you’ll take this week to expand yours?
Chapter 3 – Digital Presence
Question: What does a positive digital footprint look like for an educator, and how will you ensure your online presence reflects your professional values?
Chapter 4 – Classroom Connections
Question: What strategies can you use to create meaningful connections with students, and why are these relationships essential for learning?
Chapter 5 – Tech Integration
Question: How can technology enhance, not replace, good teaching practices, and what is one tool you’d like to explore further?
Chapter 6 – Growth Mindset
Question: Describe a time you faced a challenge in your teaching journey. How did adopting (or could adopting) a growth mindset change the outcome? Reframe mistakes as learning opportunities.
Chapter 7 – Reflection & Self-Care
Question: Why is reflection important for educators, and what is one self-care practice you’ll commit to during the holiday season?
