Tips for teaching internationally
CELTA Cambridge course and the Trinity TESOL where you learn to teach English to foreigners. So it's teaching English as a foreign language.
Know what the acronyms mean. For example, EFL - English as a foreign language, or ESL- English as a second language. It is also called English language teaching, or ELT.
It is more than just language instruction.
It is important to build your confidence and earn their trust, as well as a relationship with them and with each other.
Get to know your students as individual learners.
Develop communication strategies by building relationships and developing a sense of community within your classroom.
It will take time and patience.
Make sure your students know how to communicate with each other and with you, the teacher. Give them helpful phrases to use in and out of the classroom.
Establish a common ground between students and yourself.
